Captain America was NOT always able to lift Thor's hammer, it's just what the Russo brothers would like it to be, it's never been official that this is what was going on during that scene in Age of Ultron.
I've watched the interview where the Russo talk about it, and it's not official, they just like to think this is what happened
It's fun to think that Steve Rogers just didn't want to hurt Thor's feelings or whatnot, but the thing is it's never been clarified what happened there
Captain America made it move a little bit, and I like to think that he was just not 100% ready to lift Mjolnir, his heart is pure but it's up to the hammer itself to decide who is worthy and who is not 😀
I think the severed head would have been more reminiscent of the Infinity Gauntlet comic book deaths. More brutal (IM gets decapitated in that one). I'd love to see an R cut of this movie!
