Pioneer DDJ-SR review

Pioneer DDJ-SR review.

After my review of Pioneer’s entry level DDJ-SB it’s now time to take a closer look at the DDJ-SR. The SR takes it to the next level and looks more like a smaller version of the professional DDJ-SX. The SR is a 2 channel controller that can control all 4 decks in Serato DJ and is packed with a lot of features and also had the unique ‘Pad Plus’ feature. Check it out!

  • Guys I just got one of these 3days ago, is this still a mixer 2018 ????

  • Is the sound card as good as the SX?

  • What's your take on the SR2 for smaller spaces? my biggest concern is the relatively short pitch faders and the crossfader doesn't appear to easily be replaced… I'm considering looking for a 2ch controller for smaller size, bit not finding any Pro level stuff in that form factor…

  • Question TLM? Do you prefer the ddj sr or the numark nv 1 or 2. I currently have a mixtrack pro 3 and wanted to step up a bit or is there any difference

  • how do you set the sampler volume to master because I have the sb2, does it still work on it?

  • Dj TLM, do you have any tips for getting tracks to be at the same level when using this controller? The VU meters are quite short and it can be a little difficult to get my tracks to to be around the same volume.

  • Thank you for the great review. Currently using the SB2 and the 4 deck / 2 channel option doesn't bother me. Looking forward to getting the SR next.

  • Hey DJ TLM!!! How do u set your fx to both channels.

Christian Kumar June 4, 2020 12:38 pm Reply
  • TLM, man oh man…THANKS for going over the filter aspect on how you have to use it when going from 1 deck to the other when changing songs beacuse I was having that exact issue. I would go from deck 1 to 2 and cue up the song and not have any sound. I thought something was wrong with the mixer I just purchased. I just have to train myself to keep using the filter when going from deck to deck. No way in hell will I ever be using 4 decks…. I'll keep it at 2 for now.

  • 5:40 what? there is a trimmer button at ddj-sb2 or you mean something different?

  • Can the sr be connected to an external recorder for recording?

  • "Good for home use cuz it fits on a desk" lmao. I've spun for over 3,000 people at some of the biggest venues in Toronto on the DDJ-SR. Definitely more than capable enough for any sized show really. Deadmau5 could use it and you wouldn't know the difference.

Mind you, a good DJ could make 2 tables and a mixer sound good. Everything else is just a luxury. The DDJ-SR is the best unit that I've ever used overall. It's a compact, feature-rich, quality built, secret weapon of a controller with everything you could possibly need and want to sound like or keep up with the pro's.

Best $700 I've ever spent. That and my Sennheiser wireless headphones.

  • TLM…Great Vid. Whats your opinion on the DDJ-SR vs the Vestax VCI-380?

  • Hey I'm having a hard time picking a controller ( DDJ SX2 or DDJ SR) Which one should I get? I prefer a controller with 2 channels using Serato DJ but I want a mid range to high end controller

  • I'm trying to get started. Is this worth getting over the sb2 considering it's like more than double the price?

  • Is Serato includet? Or just serato intro like with the DDJ-SB2

  • Please I need you to answer me for this… I've bought a DDJ-SR and I was trying to prove it and start using it when I noticed that the faders didn't work… Maybe it's something really simple but I actually don't know does it happen.. Maybe it is because I don't have actually my speakers and I use my TV as them. On Rekordbox i can hear the songs but the faders don't work, and on Serato I can't even play the songs, they are not reproduced, Please help

  • Does it make a difference if I use a mono 1/4" TR cable for the output instead of a TRS on the DDJ-SR?
